If you looked at the resumes of most industry professionals today, you’d have a hard time finding someone with more credentials than Risa Bramon Garcia. With over 30 years of experience as a casting director, director, and producer, Risa’s list of experiences range from casting and producing several Oliver Stone films to directing Ben Affleck to discovering a relative unknown Philip Seymour Hoffman after seeing him out at a bar. Recently she’s added teacher to that resume and has began sharing her decades of knowledge with her students at her newly opened studio (http://www.Bramongarciabraun.com). After meeting and working with her at the 99 Actors panel a few months back, I was thrilled when she agreed to sit down with me and talk about her life in the industry.

Thank you. I really enjoyed listening about the bones of what it takes. My young daughter is in the business and its good to hear how the business works!
Recently learned of Risa from a colleague on the set of Masters of Sex, a show she casts and was very impressed by her web site and especially the articles she’s written. Loved the interview and am so grateful for all the knowledge and experience she so freely and eloquently shares. Am hoping to study with her soon!
Lovely.
